What are the secrets of the walk in tub industry?
The first thing that you should know is that there are very few walk in tubs made completely within the United States. The vast majority are made in China, or have components made in China only to be assembled in the United States. We do have access to tubs manufactured top to bottom in the United States, and they are excellent quality. However, they are three times the price of the tubs we feature on this site.
The second thing that you should know is that national companies often hire handymen to install walk in tubs. This keeps their costs down, just like buying products from China. Request that only a licensed plumber touch your plumbing.
The third thing that you should know is that walk in tub companies are opening and closing every month. This is considered a booming industry. All a company needs is a name and a website and you would never be the wiser. Integrity Remodel is more than a walk in tub company. We build, we remodel and we are plumbers. We are Arizona fixtures and will be here for the long run.
What to look for in a quality unit.
Walk in tubs are not all created equal. They come in fiberglass and acrylic. They have swing out doors, and doors that swing inward. They are different sizes and offer a variety of options such as Ozone sterilization, Chromotherapy (light), and hydrotherapy. But none of that is important if the tub lacks a strong foundation - the stainless steel frame. A poor frame will cause the tub to shift and the shell and door seal to lose integrity. So look behind the panel. We repair the tubs we install, so we prefer to sell the best products.
What is a fair price for a walk in tub?
We have estimates from both national and local businesses in the range of $18,000. These estimates were given to us by customers who chose our service. We consider this pricing excessive. Our most affordable tub, The Agave, costs less than $6,000 with full installation including a cultured marble back splash.
What to look for in an installer.
Because this installation requires that your plumbing be affected, we suggest that you hire only a licensed plumber. This not only assures you that the installer will be able to handle any situation that arises, but it also extends to the homeowner the protection of the Registrar of Contractors should there be a problem. If the company that sells you the walk in tub uses a handyman, finding him again for warranty work may be an exercise in futility. Integrity Remodel has been in business since 2001.
